Disneyland is thrilled to be welcoming back the original Disneyland Railroad steam engine, E.P. Ripley on March 6. The E.P. Ripley left the Disneyland Railroad five years ago and begun its extensive restoration in summer 2021. The purpose of the restoration was to bring the engine back to its former original glory which included replicating the original boiler, headlamp and bell.
The return of the E.P. Ripley at Disneyland on March 6, will be an amazing sight and an fantastic addition to the Disney100 celebrations at Disneyland Resort. Walt himself can be seen riding it when Disneyland opened in 1955.
For those of you that are interested, the engine was named after Edward Payson Ripley who was one of the founders of the Atchison and Topeka Railroad which later became the Santa Fe Railroad, established in 1859.
