In just a few days Disney Springs will officially reopen in a very limited capacity, as a number of third-party shopping and dining locations like Chicken Guy!, Blaze Pizza, Planet Hollywood, Earl of Sandwich, The Polite Pig, Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill, STK Orlando, Wine Bar George, and other favorites will begin welcoming guests once again on May 20th.
However, it looks like Disney Springs is looking to open more Disney-owned shops and eateries in the near future, as it has been confirmed that the World of Disney store, D-Luxe Burger (for mobile orders only) the Marketplace Co-Op, and other Disney-owned locations will reopen on May 27th. However, as more locations are getting ready to open, Disney has laid out what kind of restrictions they are putting in place to keep guests as safe as possible during their visit to the shopping and dining destination.
1. Masks and temperature checks will be required
Like next-door neighbor Universal CityWalk, all guests visiting Disney Springs must wear a mask during their entire visit to the shopping and dining district (except when eating). If a guest does not have a face covering, Disney has said that they may be able to provide a temporary mask, but such a measure is not guaranteed and guests could be turned away.
In addition to the mask-wearing requirement, Disney has said that temperature checks for all visiting guests will be required upon arrival. Any guest with a temperature reading of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be admitted to Disney Springs, and their entire party will be asked to leave as well. Likewise, all Cast Members will also undergo temperature checks and those with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be permitted to work.
2. Limited entry and exit points
Disney will also be strictly controlling how guests enter and exit Disney Springs, with only four entry and exit points available for guests to use :
- Orange Parking Garage
- Lime Parking Garage
- Hotel Plaza Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge
- Rideshare area
As of right now there will be no guest access to Disney Springs available from the Grapefruit garage or any surface parking lots.Valet parking will also not be available.
3. Social distancing and limited contact policies will be in place
In addition to the face coverings, temperature checks, and limited entry points, Disney will be implementing some strict social distancing measures to help keep guests and Cast Members away from each other, including the following:
- Physical barriers in some locations where it is hard to have social distancing like around cash registers and at Guest Relations.
- Floor markings that will remind guests to stay away from others
- Limiting capacity at venues
- Offering cashless payments at all venues
Of course, in addition to all of these measures, Disney has said that they will increase cleaning and disinfection in high-traffic areas like handrails, elevators and escalators, tables, benches, handles, and restrooms. They have also installed hand sanitizer and hand-washing locations.
As always, while this situation is evolving, all theme park fans should check out the CDC’s official site here, which has information on the virus and how to prevent its spread.
