Though it’s easy to notice when prices on tickets, merchandise and food go up across Disney Parks, it looks like cost cutting is coming to Disney food and beverage in a more subtle way in the weeks ahead. During a recent earnings call, Disney Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy made the following statement about how the parks will be trimming costs:
“We can cut portion size which is probably good for some people’s waistlines. We can look at pricing where necessary. We aren’t going to go just straight across and increase prices. We’re going to try to get the algorithm right to cut where we can and not necessarily do things the same way. “
While Disney would never announce that they were cutting portion sizes in the theme parks, we’d imagine that the mere fact that a Disney official is mentioning this, probably means that this type of cut is already in the works.
What do you think about Disney specifically talking about reducing portion sizes at its parks to try and save money?
