Disney Quietly Tightens Mask Rules Again

Without any announcement, earlier this week Walt Disney World updated their stated mask guidelines on their website with stricter rules for mask-wearing. As originally discovered by BrookeGMCDonald on Twitter, Disney’s website still says that face coverings must be worn in all public areas and can only be removed while actively eating or drinking but now also specifies that face coverings must also be worn while standing, waiting or sitting in dining locations.

This would be a big departure from current policy at sit-down restaurants, where guests are able to remove their masks as soon as they sit down at a table and then put them back on after they leave. Under this new policy, guests would need to leave their masks on while sitting, ordering, and waiting for food and can only remove them when actively eating or drinking.

Right now it is unknown if this newly updated policy is being enforced, but if Disney is looking at increasing capacity at the theme parks and restaurants in anticipation of a busy Spring Break season, they may be looking to tighten guidelines to ensure safety at higher capacity levels.
