One of the big complaints that many had when Walt Disney World first began reopening was the sparse availability of parks pass reservations, particularly for annual passholders. However, it looks like Disney has been tweaking its parks pass availability system to allow as many people as capacity limits will allow to get in to the theme parks as possible. Here are some key trends that we have been noticing with this new system over the past few weeks.
Disney resort guest and theme park ticket holder availability is basically wide open for the rest of 2020. As long as you aren’t planning a visit within 36-48 hours, parks pass availability is widely available from now through the end of the year, even on popular holiday dates like Halloween, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve.
Short term spots for annual passholders are very difficult to come by, making last-minute trips to theme parks that are not Epcot almost impossible. However, it looks like Disney has been working hard behind the scenes to release additional availability for parks 1-2 weeks in advance on a rolling basis, which should make it easier for annual passholders to snag a pass as long as they are looking to plan a visit at least a week in advance. Though weekend dates are a little tougher to grab than weekday ones, if you are looking to visit theme parks in mid-September, you have a pretty good chance right now of being able to visit any park you want, which is a big change from the beginning of August, when parks pass availability for annual passholders was very sparse.
Of course, the parks pass availability calendar is always changing, and you’ll definitely want to visit it here before making any plans. But with the busy summer travel season coming to an end and Florida’s governor now saying that he wants theme parks to increase their capacity limits, we’re hopeful that more parks pass availability will be released in the coming months.
