Disney Made Shock Announcement To Scrap Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, All Remaining Voyages SOLD OUT!

Last week, Disney made the shocking announcement that their most immersive experience; Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will take its last voyage Sept. 28-30. Now, let’s just stop to take this in. After only 18 months since Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser officially opened in March 2022, it will take its final voyage.

New bookings had been paused in order for those booked on voyages after Sept 28 to rearrange to earlier ones at a 50% discount. New bookings reopened yesterday but it wasn’t long before all voyages were SOLD OUT.

Disney made this statement on the official page:

    Important Information
As of May 26, 2023 at 4:30PM ET, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is unavailable for new bookings.

However, availability may still be subject to change and a very limited number of rooms could become available for new bookings from time to time. Please continue to check the online calendar for the latest availability.

So, it looks like all hope is not completely lost for those who have not been able to book a voyage as there may be some availability if people decide to cancel. Our advice is keep checking regularly to see if anything opens up.

Here is the official statement that Disney made when it was announced that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser would take its final voyage:

We have known for a number of months that interest in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser has dwindled with some voyages at half capacity, some voyages have been canceled and discounts have been offered for DVC members and Annual Passholders.

Having said that, this is still certainly shocking news that Disney has decided to pull the plug on this 100 room hotel so soon after its opening.

The price point of this experience appears to have been its ultimate downfall. I guess it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that an experience that costs $4,800 upwards for a two-night stay for two people is only going to have a certain shelf life.

There is only a small and finite amount of people that have the chance of experiencing it due to the cost and those guests will likely go once and for the price won’t do it again. When all those who can afford it have gone then inevitably bookings will dry up and the experience is no longer viable which is unfortunately exactly what Disney has found.

It remains to be seen what will happen next for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Will Disney reopen it as a Star Wars themed hotel? Will they reimagine it to become a cheaper experience that can be enjoyed by a whole other wave of Disney and Star Wars fans who have simply been completely outpriced with the current experience as it is.

We will certainly keep you posted on Disney’s plans for the fate of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. All we do know is that if you haven’t yet and can afford it, time is seriously running out for you to have your chance of a voyage on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.  Let us know your thoughts by leaving us a comment below or on our Facebook page.
