Hot on the heels of Walt Disney World’s price hikes on annual passes, reusable bags, and parking, another popular Disney resort offering has gone up in price just in time for next year: The Disney Dining Plan. Though Disney has a number of discounts and deals related to the Disney Dining Plan, and will likely offer at least some discounted deals next year, earlier this week Disney began accepting bookings for vacation packages in 2020, and also released prices for the Disney Dining Plan for next year as well.
Interestingly, it continues to look like Disney may have found a “ceiling” for the cost of the Disney Dining Plan, as prices are essentially remaining steady for both adults and kids in 2020, with only some modest increases and almost no benefit changes for this popular vacation add-on.
if you are booking now here is the breakdown of what you’ll pay (and what you’ll get) from the Disney Dining Plan in 2020.
Quick Service Dining Plan
The lowest tier of the Disney Dining Plan is the Quick-service dining plan, which includes 2 meals (one entree and one drink) plus 2 snacks, and 1 refillable mug. This has been a popular money-saving option in recent years, and is often an included option with certain hotel stays. However, if you are looking to purchase this as part of a hotel package in 2020 here’s what you’ll pay:
- Adult $55.00 (Up from $52.50)
- Child $26.00 (Up from $23.78)
Standard Dining Plan
The medius tier of the Disney Dining Plan is the most popular choice for most guests purchasing a dining plan as part of a vacation package, and includes one table-service meal (which includes a dessert but not appetizer), one quick-service meal, two snacks, and a refillable mug. This Dining Plan (along with the one above it) also includes “premium” drinks, including smoothies, milkshakes, and speacialty mixed drinks as well. If you are looking to purchase this as an add-on in 2020 here’s what you’ll pay:
- Adult $78.01 (Up from $75.49)
- Child $30.51 (Up from $27.98)
Deluxe Dining Plan
The most expensive and extensive Disney Dining Plan includes 3 table-service or quick-service meals (which include dessert and an appetizer, for the former) as well as 2 snacks and 1 refillable mug, This Disney Dining Plan can be hard to book, as quantities can be lmited, but if you do manage to book this dining plan, here’s how much you’ll pay in 2020:
- Adult $119.00 (Up from $116.25)
- Child $47.50 (Up from $43.50)
Though it’s true that prices are up slightly for next year’s Disney Dining Plan, at least we’re not seeing massive price hikes like those on annual passes and theme park tickets. And honestly, this is probably a smart move on Disney’s part. While we are all expecting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to be a big hit right away, with opening crowds already dispersed by the time 2020 rolls around and no opening target in sight for the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction, it seems likely that a lot of guests who had previously been thinking about a visit Walt Disney World in 2020 could be postponing their trips, which means that Disney may use dining to get some guests who are on the fence about visiting next year to go ahead and take the plunge, which could be why prices are staying so stable.
While there are plenty of opinions about whether or not the Disney Dining Plan is a good idea, if this is something you’re looking at adding to your visit next year, it seems like at least prices are staying stable for now, so it might be a good idea too book soon!
