One of the busiest days of the year at Walt Disney World has always been the week of New Year’s and though capacity caps will still be in place this year, it looks like the resort is still expecting to see big crowds to turn up as a result of the holiday, with all four parks extending hours on December 31st.
However, even though there are currently Fireworks happening at the Magic Kingdom, Disney has confirmed that there will be no special evening entertainment (countdowns, fireworks, etc.) at any park on New Year’s Eve due to health and safety procedures to help promote physical distancing in the theme parks.
Though there won’t be much happening in the theme parks to mark the end of 2020, Disney Resort hotels will offer fun and festive activities and pre-recorded fireworks and other holiday offerings will be available to stream on in-room televisions to help guests ring in the new year. For an additional fee guests can also purchase a New Year’s Eve party basket designed for the occasion.
While it looks like 2020 is going out in a fairly low-key way at Walt Disney World, there is at least one thing guests can look forward to in the new year: park hopping will be back at Walt Disney World as of January 1, 2021! However, though guests can now visit more than one park per day, the process is a little different than what guests may have been used to in the past. We have a full run down of all the changes and how park hopping will work now here.
Will you still be ringing in the new year at Walt Disney World even though there won’t be any special activities in the theme parks?
