June 20 – It was confirmed back in March this year that the once very popular, Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was to close permanently. The Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show was closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 theme park shut downs and hadn’t reopened since.
Bioreconstruct has posted a tweet this week showing the demolition of the open-air covered theatre which once housed this popular show.

Guests that had the chance to enjoy the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show could experience the excitement of fire dancing, hula traditions and a range of drumming whilst feasting on an all-you-can-eat menu including pulled pork and barbecued pork ribs.
The reason given by Disney for the permanent closure of the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show is so a new Disney Vacation Club development which is planned for the Polynesian Resort can be built. Disney released the photo below giving an artist impression of what to expect from this new development.
With the demolition of the area well underway it looks like Disney is on track for the proposed 2024 opening of this Disney Vacation Club development.
