This week has seen numerous updates on possible changes we may see, Disney Parks to Feature Fewer Cast Members as Post-COVID-19 Opening Strategy Comes Together, Universal Orlando Resort Extends Closure Through May 31, and SeaWorld in Serious Trouble following Park Closure, post COVID-19 lock down. I guess we are all hoping for the gates to reopen as soon as they can but how many of us are going to want to or be able to actually afford to go when they do? So Poll 9, 10, 11 and 12 starting this week are going to explore this question further. As we have discovered it is not as simple as yes I want to go, it is the logistics of finances as well as the question of do you feel happy to go with the threat of COVID-19 inevitably still present.
Introducing our mini series
So our first mini series of Polls will look like this:
- Poll 9 – we will start with Walt Disney World
- Poll 10 – will look at our readers who are/aren’t looking at heading to Universal Orlando
- Poll 11 – will focus on SeaWorld which will be eagerly awaited due to the news, SeaWorld in Serious Trouble following Park Closure
- Poll 12 – Will ask the question regarding your plans for visiting other top theme parks around the world to investigate currently where you stand on the question, when the park gates reopen are you going to want to and be able to visit?
Results Poll 7 – We Hope All Disney Springs Locations Open With The Parks, But If They Don’t Which Will You Miss The Most?
Let’s first look at the latest results for Poll 7, as we said we hope that all locations reopen with the parks, or as soon after as possible and all employees return to their posts.
The final results for our Poll is as follows:
- AMC Dine-in Disney Springs 24 Theater – 25%
- Levi’s – 0%
- Rainforest Cafe – 22%
- T-REX Cafe – 20%
- Ample Hills Creamery – 14%
- Drawn to Life – Cirque du Soleil – 19%
The results haven’t changed very much, it is still fairly evenly spread across the five locations, with AMC just clinching the lead, closely followed by the Rainforest Cafe and then T-REX Cafe. Drawn to Life – Cirque du Soleil has 19% of the vote, I must admit we were amazed and loved Cirque du Soleil when we visited in 2009. This show is part of our Walt Disney World visit so I am personally hoping this returns along with all locations. Levi’s is still at a dismal 0% but I suppose that was inevitable.
Results Poll 8 – Which Is Your Favourite Quarantine Created Homemade Disney Ride Through Video?
Brian’s article HOMEMADE MAGIC: 8 Quarantine- Created Ride Recreations That Keep The Magic Alive, was a really fun read and because it entertained me so much I chose to base Poll 8 on it. Surprisingly not as many people have voted as I was expecting so far, but don’t worry you still have time to vote by CLICKING HERE. I will reveal the final results of the best Homemade Quarantine Ride Through Video voted by Theme Park Tourist’s readers in poll 10. Here are the results so far:
- Peter Pan’s Flight – 10%
- Soarin’ Around the World – 19%
- Jungle Cruise – 29%
- The Haunted Mansion – 19%
- Alien Encounter – 0%
- Toy Story Midway Mania 0%
- Pirates of the Caribbean – 10%
- Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! – 14%
As you can see, we have a clear winner at the moment with 29% of the vote, so well done to the makers of Jungle Cruise. Still in with a chance of clinching the title is Soarin’ Around the World with 19% and The Haunted Mansion with 19%. However, all Homemade Videos still have the chance to gain the crown, so remember to keep voting and sharing with your family and friends.
About me continued
We are now well into the swing of the Easter holidays and have just had the Easter weekend which was inevitably a strange one this year. Usually our tradition involves an Easter Egg hunt around the meadow in the village on Good Friday followed by a party with family on the Saturday and a full Easter egg hunt at my Husband’s family in London on Easter Sunday. Things were obviously very different what with being isolated as we all are. We missed our Easter Sunday walk a lot but have been having fun in the garden. Thankfully the weather continues to be bright and sunny. Our boys loved the 20 clue trail to find their Easter presents and due to the fact I hadn’t managed to get any Easter eggs (shock horror!) our egg hunt consisted of finding 20 card eggs hidden all around the garden which they then transferred for chocolate buttons. They certainly didn’t mind and the Easter buttons (actually of the Malteser variety) didn’t last long!
We are enjoying the last few days of the official holiday before they will have to get used to wielding a pencil again on Monday when we start back at Home School. I thought I needed a bit of help from a proper publication so two weeks ago I ordered various student books for handwriting, comprehension and solving math problems. With the start of term looming I started to panic, thinking that they would not arrive in time so I emailed and the order hadn’t gone through properly, Arrrrggghhh! I have now phoned and by a miracle managed to speak to someone and I have been told they should arrive by Friday so I should hopefully be up and running ready for Monday. Right, on with Poll 9.
Poll 9 – Walt Disney World: When the gates reopen are you planning to go?
This seems to be the burning question right now, Disney like all other businesses are eagerly awaiting the time when they can open the gates and start welcoming guests again. But, what are your thoughts? Will you still want to go with the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic still present? Will you be able to afford to go? Will it depend on what social distancing measures parks are being put into place so you feel safe to return?
Actually, although initially I thought everyone would want to flood back as soon as possible, I now have my doubts. I am very interested to hear your thoughts on this. So here it is, Poll 9 and the start of our mini series documenting your views at this point. As time goes on I am guessing these thoughts may change, but we will have to wait and see.
The question simply is, Walt Disney World: When the gates reopen are you planning to go? Here are your choices:
- Yes – I can’t wait to go!
- Yes – but it will depend on what measures are put into place so I feel safe.
- No – Not until a vaccine is sorted and I know it is safe.
- No – I won’t be able to afford it.
- Maybe – I really can’t make a decision at the moment.
As you can see, rather than the usual, yes, no, maybe options I have added another couple of choices based on the current situation. Don’t forget to comment with your views, we love reading your thoughts.
To vote CLICK HERE. Remember to share this Poll with friends and family and I will share the results in Poll 10 which will ask the same question about Universal. This is where it could get interesting as different parks may offer slightly different social distancing policies and price strategies? Will we have to wait and see.
