Yesterday saw news that Six Flags Hopes to Welcome Guests in a Few Weeks With New Reopening Plan, this may be very positive news to some and frightening news to others as the COVID-19 continues to divide people’s opinion on how theme parks should react to this pandemic when planning to reopen.
Like I said in Poll 12, with so many factors to consider when planning a possible reopening I do not envy those people who are in charge of making these difficult decisions. Six Flags Hopes to Welcome Guests in a Few Weeks With New Reopening Plan, is particularly interesting as it somewhat pins down an approach with measures which are likely being considered by Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld when planning their reopening strategy.
The article explains that the necessary components are going to include capping attendance at 25% to begin with, limiting numbers of guests waiting in queues by painting 6ft markers on the ground to force social distancing along with the increased sanitization of rides during the day.
In addition to the measures above, Six Flags CEO Michael Spanos has also said that he is hoping to implement temperature checks at the entrances of every single park. This isn’t a definite right now but seems likely based on what has been said. Those guests whose temperature doesn’t fall within a certain range will not be admitted. This is the next measure we will address in our mini series of polls.

Poll 12 Results – Would You Be Happy To Wear A Mask If You Had To, When Visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld?
This poll has only been active for 24 hours hours when I took these first set of results. You still have lots of time to vote so CLICK HERE to have your say.
So far, it is close but the NO vote is winning with 57% of Theme Park Tourist readers saying that they will not be happy to wear a mask with many of you commenting that it is will be too hot in the Florida heat, you can’t due to medical reasons or you go to see the smiles on everyone’s faces which is obviously impossible to do if everyone is wearing a mask.
The remaining 43% of you are very much in the whatever it takes camp, with comments from you saying just get the parks open and you will be there. It is indeed a very interesting question with a lot of very valid points of view. Still, many people are saying that parks should only open when there is a vaccine. Lots of contrasting opinions which may or may not change as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
Keep voting by clicking on the link above to have your say on whether you Would You Be Happy To Wear A Mask If You Had To, When Visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld?
Poll 13 – Would You Be Happy To Have A Temperature Test If You Had To Before Being Able to Go Into Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando or SeaWorld?
This has been talked about alot recently when discussing potential measures for how parks can realistically reopen in the near future. This article, Shanghai Disneyland Park Preparing for Imminent Reopening, explains that for Shanghai Disneyland, all guests would in addition to a health history screening using an app called Alipay, will likely be expected to be required to do a touchless temperature check. Those falling outside the accepted boundaries will not be admitted.
There are many questions to think about regarding temperature testing including: How long is this going to take? What happens if one of your party can’t go in? How reliable is the test? Would your temperature be higher in Florida heat anyway? How effective is this when dealing with COVID-19, considering how many people are asymptomatic? The list goes on but for Poll 13 it is again a simple yes or no, Would You Be Happy To Have A Temperature Test If You Had To Before Being Able to Go Into Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando or SeaWorld?
I want to make this clear, this is one potential possibility that may be put in place but until there is an official announcement we do not know the exact measures. It is an interesting question to ask and we will be sure to update you when an official announcement is made.
You know how to do it by now! CLICK HERE to vote and don’t forget to share it with your friends and family.
