Following updated Government Guidelines, Alton Towers announced yesterday that it will definitely reopen on 4th July. On Monday 8th June, this news first appeared on their official website but it has only now been confirmed. The other three major UK theme parks owned by Merlin Entertainments, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and LEGOLAND Windsor are also reopening on 4th July.
In light of COVID-19, for many UK theme park fans, 2020 will be a year that theme park visits will be off the agenda but this is very good news for those that have been waiting patiently to hear confirmation that they can indeed look forward to heading back to their favourite theme park in time for the summer.
In a world where COVID-19 is still present, we all now understand that any theme park visit we make will certainly not be like one we have experienced before, which can be seen by reading guidelines to be followed when Alton Towers reopens.
If you are thinking of heading to any of these theme parks during the 2020 season, you will see a lot of changes to the health and safety guidelines and protocols you will be expected to follow, ticket reservation procedures, when and how you can book etc. Below is a list of the latest proposed reopening dates of theme parks across the UK with links to their official websites so you can find all the necessary and important information you will need to plan, book and make the best of your theme park trip:
