Cedar Point to Have TWO New Coasters in the 2025 Season

Siren's Curse

Earlier this summer, Cedar Point announced a brand new coaster for the 2025 season. The announcement was a surprise as many were expecting a new water park attraction. What is even more surprising is that Cedar Point welcomed a new coaster in the 2024 season as well (even if only briefly). Top Thrill 2 initially welcomed guests in May but closed shortly after. Top Thrill 2 is now expected to reopen in 2025. This means that Cedar Point, for the first time, will essentially have TWO new coasters for the upcoming season.

What will having two new coasters opening around the same time mean for Cedar Point’s 2025 season?

TWO New Coasters, ONE Epic Season

Top Thrill 2 debuted at the beginning of Cedar Point’s 2024 season. The coaster was met with mostly positive reviews. However, its success was short-lived as it closed less than a week after its debut. Cedar Point cited mechanical issues with the coaster vehicles manufactured by Zamperla as the reason for the prolonged closure. In August, Cedar Point announced that Top Thrill 2 would remain closed for the 2024 season and would reopen next year.

Shortly after the closure announcement for Top Thrill 2, Cedar Point announced its newest coaster.  The coaster, Siren’s Curse, is a Vekoma tilt-coaster set to break records for tallest, fastest, and longest tilt-coaster. It features a tilt-drop where riders are tilted to 90 degrees before plummeting 160 feet. The coaster will include multiple inversions, 13 airtime moments, and a speed of 58 miles per hour.

How Will TWO New Coasters Affect Crowds

Thrill seekers looking to experience not only Top Thrill 2 but also Siren’s Curse will be flocking to Cedar Point in the summer of 2025. The park will likely experience an increase in guests for the 2025 season. Cedar Point is already a very popular park with incredible coasters like Maverick, Steel Vengeance, and Millenium Force. The debut (and debut part deux) of two new coasters will only bolster its status as the Roller Coaster Capitol of the World.

While crowds will increase next summer at Cedar Point, the debut of two new coasters may have a positive effect on crowd disbursement. The newest coasters are always the most popular and will almost always have the longest queue. With two new coasters to divide up that new interest, not only is it possible for Top Thrill 2 and Siren’s Curse to experience slightly lower queue times, but the veteran coasters should also experience shorter waits due to many people heading for the two newest coasters.

The largest decrease in crowd levels is likely to occur in the Frontiertown area of the park. This area of the park is located far from the two new coasters. The Boardwalk area of the park may also experience lower crowds. However, it is filled with many family-friendly attractions that groups with children may want to will still be inclined to visit in droves. Fans of Maverick and Steel Vengeance may find that the 2025 season is the perfect time to ride these attractions while guests are busy with the two centrally located new coasters.

Ticket and Season Pass Pricing

It doesn’t appear that the additional two coasters are affecting 2025 pricing drastically. However, for the first time, guests will also have the option of purchasing an All Park Passport add-on to season passes that will allow them to travel to not only all Cedar Fair parks but also all of the legacy Six Flags parks. This pass is an insane value for less than half the price of a Walt Disney World annual pass.

Cedar Point has never had two coasters open in the same season. The park hasn’t had two major coasters in back-to-back seasons either. While Top Thrill 2 technically debuted last season, it was open for less than a week. The 2025 season will be Top Thrill 2’s true debut alongside Siren’s Curse.
