Cedar Point Bucks The Trend Regarding Ticket Prices And Chaperone Policy

Cedar Point is set to open for the 2023 season on May 6 and in interesting news, the gate price of tickets for this year is actually going down! Last year guests arriving to purchase a ticket on the gate had to pay $85 and this year the price has been reduced to $80.

The cheapest way to purchase tickets, however, is online through the official website, where tickets can be bought from $49.99 plus tax. You can also get your hands on a Season Pass for $105 (can be paid in 5 instalments) which gives you unlimited access through September 4 and includes free parking but is not valid for Cedar Point Shores or on HalloWeekends.

We have recently heard that a number of Cedar Fair parks are implementing a chaperone policy this season after antisocial behavior in the parks during last season. These include Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Knott’s Berry Farm and California’s Great America.

After the recent incident at Kings Island the new chaperone policy which comes into effect this weekend means that in order for anyone aged 15 and under to remain in the park after 4pm they must be accompanied by a chaperone, age 21 or over. They have to remain with the chaperone for the entirety of their visit. Any guests aged 15 and under found in the park after 4pm without a chaperone will be asked to leave. It is advisable to check out the website for the Cedar Fair park before your visit for specific details regarding chaperone policies.

Currently there has been no word from Cedar Point that a chaperone policy will be in place when the park opens on May 6. We will keep you updated if this changes. We are looking forward to the opening of the new Wild Mouse coaster this year and continue to follow the progress of Top Thrill Dragster will is set to reopen in 2024.

At the end of February we heard great news after Cedar Fair’s earnings call. We found out that Cedar Fair means business with a confirmed $200 million annual capital spend across its parks.

It seems we are promised a $20 million dollar attraction every four to five years at the top five Cedar Fair parks which include; Carowinds, Kings Dominion, Knott’s Berry Farm, Cedar Point and Canada’s Wonderland.

We also learnt that the mid-tier parks should expect a new $15 million attraction every five years. In between years we should see Cedar Fair investing in quality flat rides, smaller attractions and improving restaurant provisions.

This is great news for fans of the Cedar Fair parks as it means we should see more consistent new rides and attractions across the parks.

In the video below, Theme Park Predictions give their views on what they think is to come in the following years at each of the Cedar Fair parks. Firstly this is the expected list of parks they are predicting will have new attractions in the upcoming years:

    • 2024: Cedar Point, Carowinds, Dorney Park
    • 2025: Kings Island, Canada’s Wonderland
    • 2026: Knott’s Berry Farm, Kings Dominion, Valleyfair
    • 2027: Cedar Point, Michigan’s Adventure

The potential for thrilling new attractions at Cedar Fair parks seems endless with a number being speculated including a Vekoma Super Boomerang, Intamin Multi-launch coaster and a giga coaster.

What new coasters and attractions would you like to see coming to the Cedar Fair parks in the coming years? Fans of Cedar Point are eagerly awaiting the reimagining of the legendary Top Thrill Dragster which is set to open in 2024.
