2020 has been a hard year for Hong Kong Disneyland, with not one but two shutdowns related to COVID-19 earlier this year. And though Hong Kong Disneyland Park is officially reopened with reduced capacity, health and safety measures, the park has been waiting to officially debut its new icon, the Castle of Magical Dreams.
Work began on this new icon for the park back in 2017, and though some interior parts of the castle opened in phases last year (including a Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boutique and merchandise shop) on November 21st, this castle will officially be complete. To celebrate, Hong Kong Disneyland guests can take a tour called “Glimpse of the Magic”, which allows Guests to venture through the castle with an audio guide by actress Karena Lam.
Inspired by the stories of beloved Disney Princesses heroes, including Snow White, Rapunzel, Tiana, Aurora, Merida, Anna, Elsa, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Belle, Ariel, Cinderella, and Moana, the Castle of Magical Dreams offers something special for every guest with its many towers and spires embracing iconic patterns, textures, colors and ornamentation unique to each story.
As part of the castle’s magical transformation, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has invited guests, cast members, community partners and Disney friends, including Mickey Mouse, to share their own dreams and wishes on “magical dream cards.” These cards have been collected in a treasure chest, which has since been lifted to the top of the tallest tower in the castle where it will be stored safely forever.
