For theme park fans, one of the most interesting moments of 2020 was when Japan released its theme park reopening guidelines, which urged guests not to scream or shout on rides, asking visitors to instead “scream inside your heart.” And now it looks like history is repeating itself when it comes to California’s theme park reopenings, as the state has put out new guidance suggesting that parks like Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland ban guest from shouting while scared on rollercoasters to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In addition to keeping quiet on rides, health and safety guidelines are advising theme parks to require guests to wear face coverings while on rides and space parties out on attractions with empty seats.
These new guidelines are in addition to the updated guidelines from California’s health department released earlier this month that pave the way for major theme parks in the state to reopen as soon as April 1. Previously announced capacity caps should keep attendance in these theme parks low while cases are still going down in the state.
