It has now been reported by Orlando Business Journal that Disney has officially scrapped plans for the Brightline station at Disney Springs. This has certainly come as shocking news.
The proposed Brightline station would have connected guests directly from Orlando International Airport with Walt Disney World and enabled them to then travel to other areas of Florida, all without having a car.
The reason given from Disney for this decision is, “Walt Disney World said it was stepping back from a previous agreement toward establishing a Brightline station at its Disney Springs commercial district because redrawn plans for the rail corridor now include International Drive and don’t go directly to Disney as originally proposed.”
Disney spokesperson, Avery Maehrer also said “As many people who are involved in this project are aware, the new route configuration does not support a Disney Springs station and as a result, we don’t anticipate being part of this project,”.
The new route for Brightline will include a station on I-Drive as previously discussed after Brightline Gets Federal Grant To Secure Universal Will Be Connected.
This is indeed a major blow for Disney and has left many speculating that we may see a return of Disney’s Magical Express. There has been nothing confirmed regarding this as of yet. Would you like to see Disney’s Magical Express return? Let us know your thoughts by voting in our poll below.
