Disney has announced a new daytime show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom set to debut later this year on October 1 for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. Named Disney Kite Tails this fun show will feature various windcatchers and kites “of all shapes and sizes” dancing in the sky, accompanied by some classic Disney tunes.
Guests who check out this show will be able to see favorite Disney characters, including Simba, Zazu, Baloo and King Louie, come to life as three-dimensional kites, some stretching to 30 feet long. You can see these large kites in the concept art below being pulled along by performers on jet-skis, while smaller windcatchers are held near the audience seating area.
This new show will come alive several times daily at the Discovery River Amphitheater, which was formerly the home of the Rivers of Light nighttime spectacular, which seems to confirm that nighttime entertainment at this venue will not be returning in any form for the foreseeable future.
In addition to this new daytime show, guests who visit Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in the evenings during Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary will be able to see magical fireflies dancing in the night sky as part of the celebration.
