Big Debate – Would You Want To Ride The New Patented Stand-Up B&M Coaster?

It is no surprise that roller coaster designers would eventually come up with the concept of the Stand-up coaster and they did, in the 90s. Among roller coaster enthusiasts around the globe, these Stand-up coasters have become known as somewhat gimmicky and uncomfortable, with many perhaps thinking that the Stand-up coaster would quietly fade into distant memory without a backward glance.

We have learned recently that this is not to be the case at all. One of our most popular featured articles from November titled, The Makers of the Stand-Up, Inverted, Diving, Flying, and Wing Coasters Have a New Patent… You’ll Be Surprised What It’s For… outlines the new plans for upgrading and for nailing the Stand-up coaster once and for all.

You could say that Stand-up coasters are divisive in that you either love them or you hate them, unfortunately for many it is the latter but with a new and innovative design, could this be a thing of the past?

The main two problems with the original Stand-up coaster was the hard, over-the-shoulder restraints (causing frequent headbanging and earring injuries and secondly, discomfort caused by the fixed bicycle-style seat. B&M engineers appear to have come up with a new stand-up coaster technology including a flexible “vest-style restraint” and standing “seats” that not only lock to a comfortable height for each rider, but now can also slightly adjust during the ride. With this new technology it should mean that the two main problems of the original Stand-up coaster should be eliminated.
