However much we wish it was different, COVID-19 still dominates our world right now and it looks like things aren’t going to change in the near future. With the introduction of a vaccine, which is hopefully on the horizon, things should definitely look more positive. Heading into 2021, theme parks are having to look at further ways alongside limiting capacity, mandatory mask wearing, social distancing and temperature testing to ensure that the parks are as safe as possible in the COVID-19 world we are currently living in.
In our recent article, Six Flags Survey Guests On Possible Mandatory COVID-19 On-Site Test In 2021, it is reported that Six Flags are surveying guests to ascertain opinion on the possibility of requiring all guests to take an on-site COVID-19 test before being admitted. The test is said to take 15 minutes for a result so logistically this seems problematic but it is a measure that is being seriously considered by Six Flags to try to ensure guests feel as safe as possible and to encourage more guests back to the theme parks in 2021.
Although there hasn’t been any official announcements from Disney or Universal regarding this, we can’t help thinking that this may become a measure that could be adopted across all theme parks. Our latest Big Debate asks you the question, should on-site COVID-19 testing be mandatory at theme parks in 2021? We always like to keep the poll as simple as possible so your choices are yes or no.

As discussed in the original article, to help with the logistics of on-site testing there could be the opportunity for theme parks to allow guests to bypass this on-site testing if they have a ‘COVID FREE’ confirmation from within the last seven days from a test taken at a pharmacy. Let us know what you think about this in our comments sections below or on our Facebook page.
