When Walt Disney World reopened its gates after a three month closure due to COVID-19 back in July, guests choosing to return had to get used to a “new normal”. One of the biggest and most contentious health and safety measures that had been implemented as a result of COVID-19 was mandatory mask wearing.
FastPass+ was eliminated when parks reopened and we then saw, what seemed to be, a constant trickle of further announcements from Disney as to changes that were going to take place. These changes included the cancelling of parades, character meet and greets and fireworks. All of these could be seen as expected due to tight physical distancing measures inevitably needed in the light of the pandemic.
What seemed like perhaps more of a surprising measure was that Park hopping would not be available. Park hopping is such as important part of a visit for most guests, giving you the flexibility and freedom to visit more than one park in a day. I know we absolutely loved park hopping on our 10-day trip. With limited capacity restrictions, park hopping was an option that just wasn’t going to be possible.
There was very positive news from Disney this week as they officially announced that Park Hopping would be back at Walt Disney World as of January 1, 2021. There will inevitably be some key changes which can all be seen in our news article, Walt Disney World Park Hopping Officially Returns January 2021.
This got me thinking about this week’s Big Debate and so we ask the question, Park Hopping Is Back In January 2021: Yes Or No, Is That Enough To Get You Back To Walt Disney World?
VOTE NOW
As far as we know right now, all other measures including mandatory mask wearing and no FastPass+, character meet and greets, parades and fireworks as well as all physical distancing measures will remain in place for the foreseeable future as we head into 2021. So as of January 1, 2021 with the option of park hopping back, is it enough to get you back to Walt Disney World? The options are simple:
- Yes
- No

For some fans that have already been back numerous times to Walt Disney World since the parks reopened in July, the return of Park hopping may not mean much but for others that are yet to head back to the parks, this could be a big push to get them to buy tickets and visit next year. With an effective vaccine now on the horizon, 2021 will hopefully be a year with many steps forward in the fight against COVID-19.
