Earlier this week, Disney confirmed that phase one of Avengers Campus California will begin welcoming new recruits in just a few months on July 18, 2020!

The biggest new area that will open with the Avengers Campus is the Spider-Man themed Worldwide Engineering Brigade—also known as WEB. This new area will be home to the brand new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure ride invites guests to experience what it’s like to have web-slinging superpowers like Spider-Man as they take on a mission to take out Spider-Bots that have run amok during a test drive of the “Web Slinger” vehicle.
The innovative technology adapted specifically for this attraction includes a seamless blend of 3D and a new interface, which will allow guests to experience what it’s like to have super powers and sling webs alongside Spider-Man.
And though there have been many iconic Spider-Man characters created for the silver screen, it has been confirmed that this attraction will feature the most recent Spider-Man, Tom Holland who was most recently featured in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Avengers: Endgame.
In addition to the new ride, there will be several gift shops in this area, including one that will sell interactive Spider-Bots much like the ones featured in the aforementioned ride. Each Spider-Bot has a remote control, and all eight articulated legs move forward and backward, and can be customized with tactical upgrades to harness the powers and styles of favorite Marvel Super Heroes, including Black Panther, Iron Man and Black Widow, as well as Ant-Man and The Wasp.
Meeting characters in their element
Outside the Spider-Man area of this new land, guests will find new opportunities to meet classic Marvel characters in some new settings! Because this new land exists outside the MCU timeline, guests can find iconic heroes both old and new, including Iron Man (sporting brand new Mark 80 armor), Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Thor and even villains like Loki.
Several characters will also be making their parks debut, including Ant-Man and The Wasp and the villainous Taskmaster, who will have a role in the upcoming film “Black Widow”.
Food will be primarily inspired by Ant-Man
Though there will be a Shawarma Palace food cart (a nod to the first Avengers film) in this land, the main food offering will be the Pym Test Kitchen, A new restaurant based around the world of Ant-Man and The Wasp where “Pym Particles” are used to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies is using the latest innovations to grow and shrink food at this eatery! Next door to this quick service eatery guest will find Pym Tasting Lab inside an oversized beer can. This watering hole will feature craft beers, cocktails, and other super-hero themed libations!
Though this summer will only bring the first phase of Avengers Campus to life (no opening date has been revealed for the still-untitled E-Ticket Avengers Ride), it will be amazing to see how Disney brings these iconic characters to life at Disney California Adventure!
