UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the nation at 7pm and announced the “roadmap” for easing Covid restrictions in England. These dates have been long awaited in order to get some confirmation on when the Lockdown will ease and life can resume to some sort of normality.
Theme park goers have been eagerly awaiting news of when Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and LEGOLAND Windsor along with when all the other theme parks in the UK will be able to open their gates for the start of the 2021 season.
From the “roadmap” given by Boris Johnson it has been confirmed that the earliest date theme parks can reopen is 12th April. However, hotels, hostels and B&Bs can reopen to household groups from 17th May at the earliest. This is going to leave Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and LEGOLAND Windsor as well as many other theme park operators around the country with a difficult decision as many guests rely on the resort hotels or local hotels and B&Bs when they visit the theme park.
We now await official announcements from each theme park to confirm exactly when each park will choose to open but we are guessing it will be as close to this date as possible.
With Easter Sunday landing on 4th April and most school holidays in England happening Saturday 27th March – Sunday 11th April it unfortunately looks like any hope of a theme park visit over Easter is now completely gone.
With new attractions ready to await excited guests and with the go ahead for theme parks to open from 12th April we are sure the top theme parks in the UK are in for a bumper summer season.
We will keep you posted on all the official opening dates of the top theme parks across the UK as soon as they are announced on our News and Facebook page.
