Alton Towers has just officially announced on their website and Facebook page that the theme park will open on Monday 12th April which is the first possible date theme parks are allowed to open based on the government COVID “roadmap” which was announced by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in his address on Monday.
In the current government guidelines, hotels and B&Bs are not allowed to open until 17th May which means that the Alton Towers Hotel and Splash Landings Hotel will remain closed.
Alton Towers have announced on their official website page that the Woodland Lodges will be open from 12th April:
“At present, we plan for our Woodland Lodges to be open from April 12th. They offer self-contained accommodation with the necessary amenities required to open as part of ‘Step 2’ set out in the latest Government guidance. Please note that each Lodge can only be used by members of the same household and no shared facilities (restaurants, bars, indoor areas) will be open.”
Alton Towers Waterpark will officially open on 17th May 2021. For those guests that have a booking at the Alton Towers Spa or Waterpark for a date when it isn’t open contact [email protected] for further details.

For those guests that can’t wait until 12th April and would like to visit the Gardens, they will be open from 29th March – 11th April. Pre-booking is essential.

Alton Towers are set to open their new much anticipated Gangsta Granny: The Ride attraction as part of ‘The World of David Walliams’ which was originally planned to open in March 2020.
Gangsta Granny: The Ride, will sit centre stage in a new area of the theme park, formerly known as Cloud Cuckoo Land, which has been transformed into ‘The World of David Walliams’. The new headliner attraction, Gangsta Granny: The Ride is housed in the former Wobble World building which was last used as the House of Monsters scare attraction during Scarefest in 2018.
