As the summer sun sets on another thrilling season for theme park enthusiasts, the excitement is just beginning to build for next year. Recently, theme parks from across North America have unleashed a wave of new coaster announcements that promise to bring record-breaking thrills and fun to 2025.
From record-breaking heights and heart-stopping inversions to immersive storytelling and cutting-edge technology, these new rides are set to elevate the thrill-seeking experience to new levels. Buckle up and get ready to discover what’s on the horizon for the world of roller coasters!
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation:
Wrath of Rakshasha
Opening at Six Flags Great America, Wrath of Rakshasha will be the world’s steepest dive coaster. The Bolliger and Mabillard dive coaster will feature a 96-degree and 171-foot drop. This is the park’s first roller coaster in six years. Additionally, riders will endure five inversions, the most for any dive coaster. When it opens next year, Wrath of Rakshasha will be a great addition to Six Flags Great America’s line-up.
Alpine Fury
Alpine Fury is a Premier Rides dual-launch coaster opening at Canada’s Wonderland next year. This coaster will break records with its opening, including being Canada’s tallest, fastest, and longest launch coaster. This first-of-its-kind coaster will include a vertical launch as well as a whopping NINE inversions, the most for any launch coaster. With over 3000 feet of track, speeds of 71 miles per hour, and a foot-tall drop, Alpine Fury will bring the thrills.
Quantum Accelerator
The Intamin multi-launch family coaster, Quantum Accelerator will open at Six Flags New England in 2025. This will be Six Flags New England’s first coaster since The Joker opening in 2017. The coaster will feature straddle ride vehicles that resemble motorbikes, and guests will launch from 0-30 miles per hour in the first launch. In the second launch, the trains will reach a speed of 45 miles per hour. Over the two minutes of ride time, riders will enjoy eleven airtime moments. Quantum Accelerator will be a welcome addition to Six Flags New England.
Snoopy’s Racing Railway
After Kings Islands’ successful Camp Snoopy expansion this year, Carowinds has decided to follow suit. Carowinds’ new and improved Camp Snoopy will include two new attractions, with one being a family coaster called Snoopy’s Racing Railway. This family launch coaster looks to be a close copy of Canada’s Wonderland’s Snoopy’s Racing Railway. It will be a great addition for kids with its 31-mile-per-hour launch.
Rapterra
Opening at Kings Dominion, Rapterra will hold the records for the tallest and longest wing coaster. This Bolliger and Mabillard wing coater will include over 300 feet of track and a 145-foot-tall drop. Riders will launch from 0-65 miles per hour. The addition of Rapterra will be a great way for Kings Dominion to celebrate its 50th anniversary season.
Epic Universe, Opening in 2025:
Curse of the Werewolf
The first of four coasters opening with Epic Universe in 2025 is Curse of the Werewolf. This Mack Rides spinning coaster will be located in the Dark Universe realm of the park. It will last over two minutes and reach speeds of 37 miles per hour while sending riders to escape the clutches of a pack of werewolves.
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders will be a launched Intamin family coaster located in the Isle of Berk. This How to Train Your Dragon coaster will include a height requirement of only 40 inches and will be great fun for children and adults alike.
Mine-cart Madness
This revolutionary coaster will do what no coaster has done before: jump the track. While riders will not actually be flying through the air, Mine-cart Madness will create the illusion that the mine-cart vehicles are jumping the track, just like you might see in the Donkey Kong video game. This family coaster located in Super Nintendo World will include only a 36-inch height requirement so most guests will be able to experience this one-of-a-kind coaster.
Stardust Racers
The final coaster opening with Epic Universe will be Stardust Racers. The coaster will be located in the Celestial Park area of Epic Universe and will be a dueling coaster. The launched Mack rides coaster will include nearly a mile of track and reach speeds of 62 miles per hour. The coaster will feature the first inverted crisscross or Celestial Spin. Additionally, the ride vehicles will be fully illuminated at night giving the illusion of comets shooting across the night sky.
Other Announced Coasters:
Yeti Trek
Yeti Trek is a Vekoma family coaster opening at Santa’s Village in Ontario. This standard family coaster will send riders on a fun, not scary, ride as the track dips and weaves through the trees. This will be Santa’s Village’s third coaster.
Fire Runner
Fire Runner is a Rocky Mountain Construction raptor track coaster opening at Lost Island in Waterloo, Iowa. It will include three inversions and reach speeds of 52 miles per hour.
