We’re focusing on Disney’s Hollywood Studios as our “Park of the Month” for December 2013. The movie-themed park is packed full of world-class attractions, including the original, definitive version of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the fiendishly-addictive Toy Story Midway Mania!. It can be hard to prioritise what to see and do first, so we’ve called in an expert to help. Orlando Attractions MagazinePublisher and Editor Matt Roseboom has more than 20 years of publishing experience, including five years as owner and editor of two weekly newspapers in Southwest Florida (Marco Island Sun Times and Naples Sun Times). While living on Marco Island, he and his family made the three-hour trip to Orlando whenever they could spare the time.
In 2006 an opportunity presented itself and Matt sold the newspaper and moved to Orlando to turn his love of attractions into a business. Matt is also a cruise travel writer and the publisher of Cruise News Weekly. We’re huge fans of Orlando Attractions Magazine, and we’re pleased to share Matt’s views on the very best that Disney’s Hollywood Studios has to offer. What would you recommend as being the very best, not-to-be-missed ride/attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and why? If I had to pick just one it would be Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan, you’ll love this ride. The fact that they have multiple scenes makes it one to ride over and over. What you would recommend as being the very best, not-to-be-missed restaurant/food outlet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and why?
If it’s great food you’re looking for, try the Hollywood Brown Derby. But the unique one you won’t find anywhere else is the 50’s Prime Time Cafe. They have great home cooking type food and you’ll be treated just like one of the family – literally. What is your top tip for visitors to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (to save time, save money or not miss out on a hidden gem)? Get there at the park opening and head straight to Toy Story Midway Mania!. This ride always has the longest line, so it’s best to do it first, then get a FastPass for another ride. Look out for further articles and forum discussions about Disney’s Hollywood Studios throughout December.
