Let’s take a look around the Magic Kingdom resorts as the Villas at the Grand Floridian are now open and construction for Disney Vacation Club at the Polynesian is underway.
The Villas at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa are now officially open as of October 23, 2013. I went by on Sunday the 20th and was able to capture some photos of the finished exterior. There was a horse drawn carriage passing by with a bride and groom. You can see them in the bottom of the photo
This poor fellow had the unfortunate task of “cleaning up” after the horses. At least he did it with dignity.
The exterior of the building is beautifully detailed and matches the original resort extremely well.
There is a very long covered pathway to the main building.
Unfortunately, the Villas were still not open when I visited and only Cast Members were allowed in.
So here are some official Disney photos of the interior.
The Villas are sure to be very popular with the Disney Vacation Club crowd.
Bringing Disney Vacation Club to the Polynesian looks to be moving at a rather quick pace. Much of Sunset Point is already being dug up for the construction of the bungalows that are planned in that area.
The Tahiti and Rapa Nui longhouseโs at Disneyโs Polynesian Resort are going to be converted into Disney Vacation Club buildings. On the first floor of Rapa Nui, there is a test hallway for the vacation club.
The hallways are a big improvement than before. The rest of the longhouseโs at the Polynesian just completed a refurbishment of all the rooms and hallways, but DVC takes it a step further. The drop down ceiling is gone and new carpet, wallpaper, and lighting is installed.
