Until now we have known this new roller coaster as Project Exodus and we have been following the construction updates including the newly delivered gold and white track pieces.
The name “Hyperia” plays on the fact that it is a hypercoaster and we now know that the theme is based on the fearless Goddess, Hyperia which links directly with the slogan, “Find your fearless”. The gold of the logo links with the gold track.
From checking out the latest construction updates it looks like we are now just days away from “Hyperia” going vertical and we will update you as soon as this begins.

The end of September brought a very exciting day for all UK roller coaster fans White and gold track begun arriving on site at Thorpe Park for Project Exodus which will be the UK’s tallest and fastest roller coaster when it opens in 2024.
We have been closely following the construction progress with our latest update at the beginning of September, showing that more gold supports had arrived. The news of the arrival of the track is what we have all been waiting for. Thorpe Park shared photos yesterday of the white and gold track being lifted off the lorry, these photos can been seen below.
When Project Exodus opens at Thorpe Park it will take the title from The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach (230ft), as the tallest roller coaster in the UK standing at 236ft. It is being manufactured by MACK Rides and construction work began in January 2023. With a proposed timeline of 15 months to complete, this should mean it is still on track to open in 2024 as was originally slated.
According to the new video posted to YouTube by Theme Park Insanity, we hear that foundations on site are mostly finished and now with the arrival of track sections on site we are expecting Project Exodus to go vertical very soon.
As already mentioned, Project Exodus is manufactured by MACK Rides and when it opens in 2024 it is expected to be a very fast, thrilling and smooth ride. The roller coaster will have the latest lap bar only restraints. This modern seat design (as seen below from MACK Rides official website) is within the highest safety category (class 5) but doesn’t use the older style over the shoulder restraints meaning riders will have maximum freedom when experiencing Project Exodus.
We knew very early on that Project Exodus would take the crown from The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach as being the tallest roller coaster in the UK. The Big One has held the record since it opened in 1994.
After a surprise photo posted to Twitter by Blackpool Pleasure Beach on September 11, showing scaffolding at the top of The Big One, there was talk of extending The Big One by 2ft to make it 237ft. Now it was quickly pointed out that Blackpool Pleasure Beach measure their coasters from sea level making it 235ft tall, however Project Exodus has been measured from ground level.
The direct comparison from ground level is, The Big One = 213ft, Project Exodus 236ft so even if a 2ft extension was added which seems highly unlikely, it wouldn’t make any difference at all, Project Exodus will undoubtedly be the tallest roller coaster in the UK when it opens in 2024.
On National Roller Coaster Day, August 16 this year we also discovered that Project Exodus will also officially be the fastest roller coaster in the UK, reaching a top speed of 81mph, just 1mph faster than Stealth also located at Thorpe Park.
We look forward to hearing further details about Project Exodus including the actual name for this new roller coaster and theme. We will update you on the construction process as we head through the coming months and into the closed season when we expect majority of the work to be carried out on Project Exodus in preparation for the opening in 2024.
