Classic Attraction Permanently Closes At Hersheypark

Hersheypark fans are getting excited about the opening of Wildcat’s Revenge for this season but it seems like Hersheypark has made the decision to permanently remove one of its classic rides from the park.

Hersheypark confirmed in a twitter post that The Whip has been permanently removed ahead of the 2023 season. The Whip was a traditional ride, in which riders board small cars that are “whipped” around sharp turns. Reports online show that the parts are sitting in the parking lot presumably being stored before being taken away.

This classic attraction was located in the Midway America section of the park alongside the Ferris Wheel, Lightning Racer, Pony Parade and Wild Mouse. The Whip was originally purchased in 1937 and then removed in 1976. It was then brought back to Hersheypark in 1997 where it has remained until now.

Hersheypark has not given any specific reason for the decision to remove The Whip or what, if anything will replace it.
