Walt Disney World is seriously crowded right now! This is to be expected due to St Patrick’s Day and Spring break. All four parks are sold out until Friday March 18, with only EPCOT currently available on Saturday March 19 and EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios available on Sunday March 20. All four parks are then sold out again on Monday March 21 and Tuesday March 22, with limited availability through next week.
As a result of the huge crowds and very long lines, it seems that many guests are opting to pay for the Genie+ Lightning Lane service at $15 per person per day.
Due to the sheer amount of guests purchasing the Genie+ Lightning Lane service there have been reports online of many Genie+ attractions running out of slots mid afternoon making us ask the question, is it worth purchasing this service this week?
As you are only able to book one Lightning Lane at a time, if you arrive early in the park you are likely guaranteed getting a slot for at least one ride. However, if you plan to arrive later in the day, say after lunch, it may not be worth the $15 price tag as it is likely that there isn’t going to be many attractions if any available.
The Individual Lightning Lane attractions at each park are also selling out very quickly, so if you are hoping to purchase one of these, it is advisable to arrive early and book your slot straight away to avoid disappointment. Currently the Individual Lightning Lane attractions are:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (EPCOT)
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
- Avatar Flight of Passage (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park)
If you are wondering where the other Individual Lightning Lane Attractions have gone, they have been added to Genie+ Lightning Lane Selections to help alleviate crowds in the park through spring and early summer. These attractions will return to the Individual Lightning Lane Selections on August 7, 2022. They include:
- Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom Park)
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
- Frozen Ever After (EPCOT)
We are also expecting to see Expedition Everest (Disney’s Animal Kingdom) to appear in Genie+ Lightning Lane Selection rather than Individual Lightning Lane when it returns after its refurbishment which is currently set at April 30, 2022.
