It’s “Zip-a-Dee-DON’T-Dah” For Returning Festival Of Fantasy Parade At Walt Disney World

Any Walt Disney World fan is likely to be able to tell you that the popular Festival of Fantasy Parade returned for the first time since 2020 to Disney’s Magic Kingdom yesterday (March 9).

Guests packed the streets to get a glimpse of this returning fan favorite including the iconic fire-breathing Maleficent Dragon and much loved characters from The Princess and the Frog, Tangled and Peter Pan.

However, there was one thing missing from the Parade, it wasn’t a character, it was instead a very well known song which was always synonymous with Splash Mountain. “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” comes from the controversial film, Song of the South which Splash Mountain is based on and was used towards the end of the Parade as Mickey appeared on his float.

Since Disney announced in June 2020 that Splash Mountain will be rethemed to The Princess and the Frog, the infamous song, “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” has slowly been phased out of the Disney parks beginning with its removal from the Disneyland esplanade loop.

There has been massive controversy over the announcement that Splash Mountain will be rethemed but it seems Disney has made up its mind, “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” must go.

With inevitable delays due to COVID-19 we still don’t have a timeline for when work will begin on the extensive The Princess and the Frog retheme of Splash Mountain which is set to take place at both Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park in the future. We will keep you posted on any updates on our news and Facebook page.
