March 8 – For many, being able to hug Mickey Mouse and your favorite princess is what makes Disney, Disney. Due to health and safety measures, character meet and greets have been off the agenda at Walt Disney World since 2020 when it reopened after the COVID-19 closures.

Guests instead were able to see their favorite characters on various character cavalcades which appeared in the parks. More recently we have begun to see character interactions again where guests have been able to get closer to the character albeit still behind a roped off area.

Character dining has also returned in some capacity. Guests who visit Cinderella’s Royal Table to see their favorite princesses can now take pictures with the characters at this dining establishment in a separate room, away from the dining area before they are seated to eat their meal.

Character meet and greets have now returned to Disneyland Paris and it looks like it won’t be long before Character meet and greets return to Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

In a Q&A session yesterday at Morgan Stanleyโ€™s 2022 Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Disney Chief Financial Officer, Christine McCarthy, who was there to represent the company said that character meet and greets will be returning to domestic theme parks soon.

This is brilliant news for all those guests who have been eagerly awaiting a time when they can hug and get autographs from their favorite characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Anna and Elsa once again.
