The 8 BIG Updates From Walt Disney World (and Beyond) This Week (November 28-December 5, 2021)

​This week at Walt Disney World, a new preview of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is released, character dining continues to make a comeback, plus trams are set to return to the resort! 

Outside Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort’s president retires, plus a new making-of documentary about Universal’s most thrilling new addition is released! 

1. Trams returning to Walt Disney World

After nearly two years, parking trams are finally returning to Walt Disney World. Though much of the resort has gone back to normal in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, one measure that stuck around for longer than anyone predicted was the tram shutdown. However, Disney has confirmed that parking trams will be returning to Magic Kingdom Park later this month, and will resume service to other Walt Disney World theme parks later in 2022.

2. December 3 officially Walt Disney World Day 

This week Mayor Buddy Dyer of the City of Orlando and Mayor Jerry Demings of Orange County declared December 3 2021 as “Walt Disney World Day” in recognition of the contributions Disney has made to the central Flordia community

3. New video preview for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser shows off onboard entertainment 

A new preview for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser has been released which features some of the onboard entertainment as well as more of the interior of the Halcyon ship where the 2-day, 2-night experience takes place.

4. Storybook Dining at Artist Point returns to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge


The Storybook Dining Character Dining experience at Artist Point will be reopening on December 16 just in time for the holiday season. Guests who book this experience will be able to see Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and The Queen stroll through the Enchanted Forest while enjoying a prix fixe dinner with the choice of individually plated entrées and shared starters and desserts. Reservations can be booked now, and the price is s $60 for adults, and $39 for children. 

5. Reservations for Space 220 Lounge now available 

Guests wanting to visit EPCOT’s Space 220 restaurant without ordering a full meal can now make reservations to visit this location’s lounge which includes a full bar, and select small plates for purchase. 

6. Super Zoom Magic Shots now available at EPCOT

7. Velocicoaster documentary released on Peacock

Subscribers to NBC’s Peacock streaming service can now stream The Making of Jurassic World VelociCoaster documentary, which is hosted by Mario Lopez and features interviews with various Universal creatives, including executive Mark Woodbury and project leads Shelby Honea and Greg Hall.

8. Universal Parks and Resorts president Bill Davis to retire

Universal Parks & Resorts has announced that after 15 years serving as president of Universal Orlando, Bill Davis will be retiring. Karen Irwin, president of Universal Studios Hollywood, will become president of Universal Orlando Resort on Jan. 1.
