Universal Orlando Resort Will NOT Mandate Masks for Guests

In a sharp break with neighbor Walt Disney World, it looks like Universal Orlando Resort will not be joining other Orange County businesses by mandating masks in indoor spaces, instead simply “encouraging” guests to follow CDC guidelines and wear face coverings while indoors. However, starting on July 31, Universal Orlando Resort Team Members will be required to wear face coverings when working indoors.

Earlier this week Orange County mayor Jerry Demmings declared a state of Emergency in Orange County due to rising COVID-19 cases and called on businesses to mandate that individuals wear masks once again indoors and in crowded spaces regardless of vaccination status. And though Walt Disney World looks to be complying with this request, it looks like Universal Orlando Resort will not be. We have yet to hear anything official from SeaWorld Orlando about potential mask mandates at their park.

As of right now, Team Member masking is the only COVID-19 safety measure in place at Universal Orlando Resort, as mandatory guest masking, = capacity caps, physical distancing, spaced out seating, and temperature checks were all brought to an end at the resort earlier this summer.
