Though it may not initially seem like it, Disney parks have truly come into their own in recent years as a real food lover’s paradise. If you count yourself as one of the many who love eating their way around the Disney parks and resorts, there are some big changes taking effect right now you should know about.
It has been an eventful few weeks for Disney dining fans, with the long-delayed Space 220 finally getting ready to open, and several high-profile reopenings now set for the resort later this summer!
1. Space 220 finally sets opening date
It has been a long road for Space 220, the high-concept space-themed restaurant at Epcot’s Mission: Space pavilion, which was originally supposed to open in 2019, but due to several setbacks, including the COVID-19 Pandemic, this unique location was unable to open. However, Patina, the company behind this restaurant, and the owner of several other restaurants at the theme park reports that Space 220 is now set to open this fall. 2. ‘Ohana sets reopening date, but fan favorite dish is removed
It was announced this week that ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will reopen July 9 for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast will include coconut bread, Mickey Mouse waffles and egg skillets with ham, sausage and breakfast potatoes. Dinner will include all-you-can-eat platters of grilled beef steak, roasted chicken, sausage and island shrimp casserole served with fried rice and roasted broccolini in addition to pot stickers, crispy soy chicken wings and the signature ‘Ohana bread pudding served with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. However, many fans of this location were quick to note that the fan favorite noodles that used to be a part of this location were not mentioned in the menu announcement, leaving many to wonder if this item had been discontinued.
When it reopens, character dining will not available but the restaurant will feature a strolling musician performing for guests as they dine.
3. Sebastian’s Bistro at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to reopen later this month
It was also announced this week that Sebastian’s Bistro at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will reopen to guests on June 24. This location’s menu upon reopening will include oven-roasted citrus chicken, slow-cooked mojo pork with mango sambal, and grilled flank steak with mojito relish, cilantro rice and beans, vegetable curry, grilled broccolini and coconut shrimp, and coconut, pineapple bread pudding.
4. Epcot International Food and Wine Festival kicks off in one month
The 2021 edition of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is set to kick off in just a few weeks on July 15, 2021 and will feature returning fan favorite Global Marketplaces, as well as new booths this year in Morocco, The American Adventure, and elsewhere in the park.
This year’s festival will run a record 129 days through November 20, 2021, and will be sponsored by Corksicle, whose sparkling beverage options will be available for purchase at the Shimmering Sips booth in an exclusive keepsake CORKCICLE premium beverage container.
The festival will also open with America Gardens Bandstand presented by Florida Blue Medicare, a live-music concert series performed Friday through Monday evenings.
