Though Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been operational for a year and a half now, it looks like this attraction has continued to experience intermittent technical issues, which have caused the attraction to open late or shut down for hours at a time, causing major headaches for those using Walt Disney World’s virtual “Boarding Pass” system to secure a time to ride.
However, it looks like whatever problems this attraction is having escalated in a big way today, as Disney’s Hollywood Studios just sent out a notification to guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios through the My Disney Experience app that indicated that this attraction would not open at all today due to technical difficulty. Despite issues in the past, this marks only the second day that this attraction will not operate at all.
As you might expect, Disney did not share the exact reason for this abrupt closure of this attraction, but guests have been reporting non-moving animatronics, black screens, and other problems for the past few months, so we’d guess that some combination of these issues is causing the attraction not to run. And while that might seem like an indicator that a refurbishment is in order there is sadly no way for Disney to plan one right now, as many guests are visiting the resort solely to experience this attraction and there would definitely be some serious backlash if they closed Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance for even a few days.
