Monday 12th April has been in the diaries of theme park fans across the UK since Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s official announcement on 22nd February regarding the root out of Lockdown ‘Roadmap’.
Chessington World of Adventure opened its gates for the first time on Monday to excited fans ready to experience all the theme park had to offer including the new ‘Croc Drop’ attraction.
Croc Drop is the parks new drop tower which plunges those that dare to alight 25m. It is situated in the Forbidden Kingdom zone of the park and is set to be a thrilling addition to Chessington World of Adventure’s lineup. The minimum height requirement is 1.2m and those that fall between 1.2m and 1.3m must be accompanied by an adult over 16.
The attraction story revolves around Sobek, the ancient Egyptian Crocodile God and protector of the Nile who has been possessed by evil spirits, transforming him into a cruel deity. With the once fertile Nile laying stagnant, riders must take part in a ceremony to banish the evil spirits from Sobek, plunging into the crocodile’s soul and freeing the waters back into the Nile.
On the opening day, safety measures were clearly in place with temperature checks, mask wearing and social distancing in place and everyone appeared to be having a great time.
The three other Merlin Entertainments owned theme parks Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and LEGOLAND Windsor also opened their gates on Monday to loyal fans who just couldn’t wait a moment longer than they had to to get their theme park fix.
