Disney’s MagicMobile service, announced earlier this month, will be officially rolling out later this year, but current users of the My Disney Experience app may notice a new module today that includes this service along with a “Coming Soon!” disclaimer. Guests who are able to access this new area will also be able to check out a rundown of the MagicMobile service as well as some new information about what this service will be capable of when it is rolled out:
- As previously announced, this service allows guests to tap their phone at theme park entryways to gain admission, and can also be used to check in for reservations and link PhotoPass photos as well
- Guests can now create their MagicMobile pass with custom options for color and design and add it to their smart device’s digital wallet.
- A new “Express Mode” feature will allow guests to enable an “always on” capability for MagicMobile so guests won’t have to unlock their phones to scan their passes.
- Those with multiple passes on their phone (like parents with passes for their children on their phone) can select different passes directly from their phone’s wallet and scan those passes individually.
Though Disney has stressed that MagicBands are still being produced (with new colors and styles on the way) and still can be used instead of MagicMobile or alongside it, it looks increasingly like the focus will be on developing smartphone-linked technology, especially as mobile options like digital key and mobile order have proved to be very popular with guests.
No official launch date has been announced for MagicMobile but it looks like this technology is almost ready to make its big debut. Will you be using this new My Disney Experience feature, or will you be sticking to MagicBands? Answer here!
