After Over a Year, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to Reopen April 30 For California Residents Only

Disney has announced today that Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park are planning to officially reopen to California residents only on April 30, 2021. Like at Walt Disney World, capacity will be limited, and shows, parades, and nighttime spectaculars will not be returning immediately with the park. FASTPASS service, Disney MaxPass, Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hours will also not be available. It has also been confirmed that the much-anticipated Avengers Campus will not open with the theme park, with Disney anticipating a debut for this exciting new Marvel-themed land later this year.

As part of the reopening it has been confirmed that Disneyland Resort theme parks will be using a west coast version of the Parks Pass reservation system that requires guests to reserve their spot at a theme park on a given date to be able to gain admittance. This capacity management system will ensure that the theme parks are operating within the tier-based capacity caps required by the local government.

In addition to the theme park reopenings it has been announced that Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen on April 29, with limited capacity and Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen May 2. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel currently are not scheduled to reopen at this time.

Additional details about Disneyland Resort’s theme park reopenings will likely be shared in the coming weeks, but Disney has confirmed that they will be allowing Cast Members to be some of the first to enjoy the reopened theme parks late next month before the reopening.
