LEGOLAND Windsor is one of the top four theme parks in the UK operated by Merlin Entertainments. At the end of February it was announced that the theme park would officially open on 12th April, in line with government guidelines. The resort hotel will remain closed until 17th May at the earliest.

LEGOLAND fans have been eagerly awaiting details of what to expect from new MYTHICA land. It has now been confirmed that this new world of mythical creatures will officially open on 29th May and LEGOLAND Windsor has announced on their website what guests can expect to experience.

LEGOLAND Windsor sums up MYTHICA on their site by saying:

“Every time a child takes care building a LEGO® creature, no matter how big or small, unbeknown to them that creature comes to life in a parallel world. A portal to that world has just been discovered at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort…

The incredible world of LEGO® MYTHICA is a parallel universe to ours, where LEGO creatures come to life. Full of epic adventures, powerful guardians and mysterious creatures all waiting to be discovered. The first and only theme park land of its kind anywhere on earth.”

MYTHICA includes three rides, including ‘Flight of the Lion’ which is the UK’s first ever flying theatre ride. Guests will be taken under Maximus’ wing and go on an expedition through the realms meeting some of the rarest and scariest mythical creatures including Chimera.

‘Fire and Ice Freefall’ are two spinning drop tower rides where you will experience weightlessness with the mythical creature Crystal Flame. The third ride in MYTHICA is named ‘Hydra’s Challenge’ which is an interactive water ride boasting numerous twists and turns on your journey with Duo.

There are also a number of other experiences for guests to enjoy in MYTHICA including thirteen huge LEGO models with Maximus the Sky Lion constructed from 685,530 bricks which should truly impress any LEGO fan.

You can download the LEGO MYTHICA Augmented Reality App Experience and watch the mythical creatures transform from LEGO Bricks to real life. In the resort’s existing 4D Cinema there will be the opportunity to meet Bitsandbobs, deemed to be the cutest creature, and you also get the chance to build your own mythical creature at Creature Creation. Children can unwind in the adventure play area named ‘Lava Dragon Play’ and enjoy a meet and greet experience. Food and drink will be available at The Hungry Troll restaurant and Beastly Bites snack bar.

Helen Bull, Divisional Director at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, said in the press release:

“The whole country has never needed escapism more than they do right now and we’ve worked closely with children and their families to make sure our new land delivers the thrills for everyone, whether it’s their 25th visit to LEGOLAND Windsor or their very first. Subject to Government guidelines, we’re planning to open LEGO MYTHICA on Saturday 29 May and tickets are on sale now to experience the country’s first Flying Theatre as well as everything else the Park has to offer.”
