The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Facing Unexpected Closure

UPDATE: After five days of downtime, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has reopened on January 6, 2021!

January 1, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios did not open due to technical difficulties, and it looks like this attraction has stayed closed for the past several days up until yesterday, January 5. No reason was given for the closure, but some have speculated that there is an issue with the attraction’s launch system, which was the cause of another unexpected closure several years ago.

Right now the attraction has been listed on My Disney Experience as “temporarily closed”, so this is definitely not planned downtime, and Disney has not yet listed the ride on the refurbishment calendar, though that may change in the days to come if the  Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster continues to stay shuttered past this week.

Though the busy holiday season is over at Walt Disney World, there aren’t that many theme park refurbishments happening beyond the Rivers of America, Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover and Walt Disney Railroad at Magic Kingdom. You can check out some highlighted refurbishments happening now at the resort here

While the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has not opened at all in 2021, hopefully we will get an update soon about when this attraction will be up and running again!
