It was confirmed at the end of September that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will officially fully reopen in Summer 2021. Currently, it is only open for DVC owners to access Villas and Bungalows with some shops, restaurants and pools open for those guests. The monorail is now closed at the resort.
During this closure, the resort will be refurbished with a new large entrance way with colors, textures and patterns having been inspired from within.
We also learned a couple of months ago from Walt Disney World Site Portfolio Executive, Zach Riddley that guests can expect to see chandeliers inspired by the ocean in the entryway, extra enhancements to the fountains and gardens as well as new wooden screens covered by tropical colored geometric patterns along the Monorail station.
There has been an update from Mousesteps this week showing a range of photos of the new cross beams which are now in place in preparation for the construction of the new entryway which will have a high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in thatch style.
In this photo update you can also check out the new Christmas decorations which have been added to the resort including the usual Christmas tree and large wreaths. The large cross beams are clearly visible from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
