Disney has announced that Hong Kong Disneyland will be reopening later this week on September 25th. 2020. Because of anticipated crowd sizes, the park will still be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and in an effort to maintain capacity caps guests must still make advance reservations in order to visit. Reservations for Magic Access members have already opened, while all other visitors may make reservations starting noon on September 23. Magic Access members may book their visit one day in advance, while other guests must reserve beginning seven days prior to arrival.
In addition, Hong Kong Disneyland will continue to enforce health and safety measures including mandatory temperature checks, requiring face masks, social distancing, and increased cleaning and sanitization. In addition, live performances will be restricted to outdoor venues during the initial reopening stage and character interactions will happen “from a distance” similar to the way they happen at Walt Disney World.
Hong Kong Disneyland has had a bit of a rocky road after its initial January 26 closure, as the park reopened initially on June 18 but then closed again on July 15 following an increase in cases in the district. It is the only Disney theme park to have reopened after closing twice, but now that a reopening is set for later this week, the only remaining Disney parks worldwide that remain closed are the two parks in the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. However, that could be changing soon, as California’s governor has been promising updates on the situation, and a press conference has been called for later today.
And though nothing has been confirmed yet, if Disneyland Resort can open before the end of the year, it could mark the first time since January 2020 that all Disney theme parks are open across the globe.
