Disney’s Magic Kingdom is eagerly awaiting the opening of the Tron Lightcycle Power Run which was originally set to debut next year as part of the parks 50th anniversary celebrations. Unsurprisingly, due to COVID-19, construction work on this new ride has been impacted and a 2022 opening is now more likely.
On a positive note, construction is ramping up on this attraction and there is a lot of hype building regarding it. This ride is set to be virtually identical to the Shanghai Disneyland version which is one of the parks most popular attractions. Guests will board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles on a high-speed adventure through Tron’s high-tech universe.
In the last couple of weeks the impressive canopy has started to be added and earlier this week Mousesteps posted their latest photo update from Disney’s Magic Kingdom which shows Tron Lightcycle Power Run as it currently stands from a number of different locations from around Tomorrowland.
If you are heading to the park and fancy catching the best view of construction progress, there are a number of locations to check out including Goofy’s Barnstormer queue, Tomorrowland Speedway, Astro Orbitor and Storybook Circus.
Although originally it looked like this ride would interact with the Walt Disney Railroad, from updated art work it now looks like the railroad will pass by in an enclosed tunnel instead of going through the attraction building. Although the Walt Disney Railroad isn’t currently running, when it returns to action guests will be promised front row views of the latest construction work on Tron Lightcycle Power Run.
