There has been a lot of reports in the media regarding instances where guests have been abusive to Cast Members who are simply trying to enforce simple rules.
One of the latest, which was particularly shocking was on August 14, 2020 when a guest was arrested after being accused of hitting a security guard in the head and threatening to kill him
at Epcot. According to reports, the man became agitated when he was denied entry due to one of his children’s masks not following the park’s guidelines, and when the guard attempted to notify a coworker about the situation via radio, he was struck.
Cast Members have unfortunately always come up against frustrated guests on occasions but with the latest health and safety guidelines in place due to COVID-19 and the need for mandatory mask wearing to be enforced across all parks, their job seems to have become that bit more difficult.
Mandatory mask wearing has been a contentious issue right from when it was first announced. There is definitely a clear divide between those guests that accept the rules and wear them without a problem and then there are those guests that want to go to Walt Disney World but don’t agree that they should wear a mask and then try to avoid it at every opportunity within the parks.
We saw a lot of changes to Walt Disney World’s mask policy in the first few weeks that it was open, due to the fact that some guests were trying to find the loop holes such as walking around the park with their masks off while carrying a drink or popcorn and when questioned saying they were eating or drinking.
Everyone has a right to be able to do their job without getting abused either verbally or physically. So, what happens to those guests, besides if necessary being arrested and charged, that choose to insult or abuse cast members at Walt Disney World? Our next debate asks the question…
The Big Debate – Should Guests That Are Rude To Cast Members Be Banned For Life From Walt Disney World?
Okay, the word rude could mean a number of things. But we are asking what your views are on guests that are disrespectful, rude and abusive to cast members. Should they be banned for life from visiting what is known to many as ‘The Happiest Place on Earth’?
We always try to keep the choices as simple as possible and in this case, like with many polls we have had, they couldn’t be simpler. So, to the question, Should Guests That Are Rude To Cast Members Be Banned For Life From Walt Disney World?:
- Yes
- No
I am guessing some people may think this is too harsh for certain acts of rudeness? Should guests perhaps be banned for a certain period of time, rather than for life? What happens to other family members? Can Walt Disney World legally ban certain guests? There are indeed a lot of questions to think about.
