Have you been to Fun Spot in Orlando recently? When the Orange County’s strike team conducted a surprise inspection of the park recently, it was deemed ‘not in compliance’ with COVID-19 safety guidelines.
The reason given for this decision, was because too many guests inside the park were not wearing masks. According to a local news station WFTV, Fun Spot CEO and owner John Arie Jr. said, “It’s hard for his employees to enforce a mask ordinance, when even law enforcement is not doing so.”
The park has signs up clearly stating that masks must be worn and they give out free masks to those that arrive without one. It says on their official website that, “Per Orange County Executive Order No 2020-23, all patrons of Fun Spot America must wear face masks at our Orlando park. We recommend you bring your own.”
As have all reopened theme parks, Fun Spot has implemented enhanced cleaning procedures including the increased wiping down of rides. Temperature checks are also being conducted as guests enter the park.
Although health and safety procedures are in place, it looks like it comes down to the fact that employees are not enforcing the mandatory mask wearing rule, meaning that some guests just aren’t adhering to it.
Five other local parks were also inspected including Gatorland, Wonderworks, Thrill Park, Arcade City and Magical Midway, all of which were said to be in compliance with COVID-19 safety procedures.
