Halloween 2020 is going to look a lot different at the Magic Kingdom due to the park’s currently reduced capacity and the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. However, it looks like some celebrations are still going to happen during spooky season at Walt Disney World, with Disney confirming that the Magic Kingdom will be hosting a scaled down Halloween celebration from September 15 through October 31.
Costumes will be allowed for all guests during regular park hours
Though Disney used to only allow adults to wear costumes during special events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, this year they are making an exception to the rule, with all guests now allowed to visit the Magic Kingdom in costume. The only restriction is that costume masks are not permitted for adults; only children younger than 14 years old are permitted to wear costume masks and all guests are required to wear approved face coverings during their visit.
Limited time character appearances
Though there won’t be formal character meet and greets during this festival to comply with health and safety regulations, there will be a number of themed character appearances throughout the day, including the following:
- A special Halloween-themed cavalcade with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and pals wearing their favorite Halloween costumes.
- Chip ‘n’ Dale will appear in costume over in Frontierland
- Costumed characters will be seen riding the horse-drawn trolley down Main Street, U.S.A.
Special food and drink
It wouldn’t be a seasonal celebration at Walt Disney World without plenty of treats and snacks themed to the holiday, and this year will bring 20+ special menu items to the Magic Kingdom, including the following:
- Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Sundae (Available at Sleepy Hollow) –Pumpkin spice-flavored waffled topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and sprinkles
- Poor Unfortunate Souls Float (Available at Storybook Treats) – Cream cheese soft-serve, black raspberry syrup, and Coke
- Pumpkin Spice Milkshake (Available at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies) – Topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, sprinkles, and a Mickey-shaped marshmallow straw
- Pumpkin Spice Soft-Serve Sundae (Available at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies) – Served as a sundae topped with whipped cream, caramel, and sprinkles
