Alton Towers and Thorpe Park Announce Oktoberfest and Their Scarefest and Fright Nights Events for 2020

There is great news for UK Theme park fans as Alton Towers and Thorpe Park have just announced that they will be hosting two exciting events in the coming months to celebrate October and Halloween and Chessington World of Adventures will be offering family-friendly Halloween fun too…

Alton Towers Oktoberfest

Alton Towers is located in Staffordshire and is one of the UK’s top Merlin Entertainments owned theme parks. Oktoberfest is taking place on select dates between 11th September – 4th October and is aimed at families as well as thrill seekers. There will be themed entertainment and food with a German twist. The park will be open 10am – 8pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and 10am – 6pm on all other days. To see the official calendar to check on opening dates, click here.

From 3pm each day, guests can listen to live outdoor enteratainment and explore a variety of delicious dishes in a Bavarian-themed venue located within the park. Scarefest

Alton Towers annual Halloween event, Scarefest will be taking place this year, with enhanced health and safety measures. This event is aimed at families as well as thrill seekers and will take place 9th – 11th and 16th October – 1st November where the park will be open from 10am – 9pm. Alton Towers has been creative as ever this year with the following spooktacular delights planned for families and younger guests:

  • Garden Lights Walk – the gardens come to life in spooktacular light.
  • CBeebies Land Monster Ball – dress up in your favourite costume for dancing, games and all things spooky with your favourite CBeebies characters including Bing, Ubercorn, Peter Rabbit and many more. 
  • Freaky Fun Zone – join Skelvin, Patch, Phil, Franklin and Gretyl on the front lawns for family-friendly spooky shows, meet and greets and photo opportunities throughout the day.
  • The Alton Ancestors – join in the dance moves of the Alton Ancestors who are back from the dead to have some spooky fun.

Scarefest has always been crammed full of terrifying scare mazes for all those daring thrill seekers. This year Alton Towers has the following planned for those guests wanting to be experience all that Halloween should offer:

  • Freak Show: Toxic Junkyard – A new offering for 2020, this is an outdoor maze. Can you discover the secrets of the psycho clown’s next big show?
  • The Alton Towers Dungeon – Plenty of scares are promised as you try to avoid being found guilty by the Bishop of Stafford. Can you survive a visit to the Plague Doctor and make it out of The Witch of Burslem’s Cottage? 
  • The Attic: Terror of the Towers – you are headed to The Attic where the Governess wants revenge and she takes it by seizing the spirits of the living.
  • Altonville Mine Tours – Will you survive in this recently reopened mine where the Skin Snatchers lurk?

Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park, another one of the Merlin Entertainments owned parks in the UK which is located in Surrey has also announced its upcoming events for the remainder of the 2020 season. 

They have also got Oktoberfest planned which runs from 7th September – 4th October and their very popular Halloween Fright Nights event is taking place 9th – 11th October and 16th October – 1st November with the park being open from 10am – late. To see the official calendar to check on opening dates and times, click here.

Chessington World of Adventures

At Chessington World of Adventures, located in Chessington, near London they are offering family-friendly spooks on select dates from 17th October – 1st November including spooky animal shows, daily fancy dress competitions and rides in the dark. To see the official calendar to check on opening dates and times, click here.
