Firstly, thank you again to all our readers who have voted and are commenting on these posts. Our first Poll Coronavirus Poll: Don’t Miss Your Theme Park Fix now has 122 votes all saying yes which is great. I am really loving finding out what you are looking forward to doing as soon as those gates open. For those who get annoyed that everything always seems to be about Walt Disney World, do not despair other amazing theme parks will be covered. When I replied to a comment on Facebook regarding this, I simply said the truth which is that our readers love Disney, it’s as simple as that. Here at Theme Park Tourist, we love all theme parks (including Disney) and will always endeavor to bring you the latest news and features from the top theme parks around the World.
We know these are very difficult times for all those people who aren’t getting their pay check and for all those people who are unwell across the globe from the Coronavirus. The controversy regarding Walt Disney World Annual Passholder payments continues. Our most recent Poll Should Disney Give Relief And Offer To Defer Monthly Payments For Annual Passholders currently has 48% of you saying Yes, 35% saying No and 16% saying that a plan is needed. Keep voting to have your say and we will discuss these results and comments further in Part 5. We will continue to keep you up to date on all the latest announcements regarding how the Coronavirus is affecting the parks and what Disney is (or isn’t doing) to support it’s cast members and planned visitors to the parks in the next couple of months.
The Results
On a lighter note, it has been really interesting over the last few days looking at all the comments from Coronavirus Poll: When the gates open which ride will you run to first at Disney’s Magic Kingdom? March 23, 2020 Part 2 that actually for many of you it isn’t a ride you are looking forward to most when the gates open. Here are the current results from Poll 2 taken at 8pm (UK time):
Big Thunder Mountain – 19%
Haunted Mansion – 18%
Splash Mountain – 16%
Space Mountain – 16%
Pirate of the Caribbean – 13%
People Mover – 8%
Peter Pan’s Flight – 5%
Jungle Cruise – 3%
Dumbo – 1%
Carousel of Progress – 1%
I guess the top four so far are unsurprising. I must apologize now for missing The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train off the list. I am blaming my two sons for my mistake as they were jumping all over me at the time when I was putting the poll together. I suppose that is unfair, there is really no excuse.
I have read all your comments and I am updating the poll accordingly. Like I said in my first post, I want to listen to you, I want to hear your views. I also said I really wanted one of these posts to hit the 1000 share mark. Currently as I write we have got six shares with 154 votes! Oh well they say keep trying and trying and it can only improve, I believe in you! I believe all your friends and family want and need a smile especially for a lot of the world’s population who are self isolating. We can’t see our loved ones right now and thinking about Disney’s Magic Kingdom rides attractions, sights and sounds and shows has surely got to help to boost positivity at this difficult time.
About me continued . . .
For many of you dealing with everything life is throwing at us at the moment and trying to get through you may not be interested but as promised I will continue my story. For this post I will bring it up to date. I appreciate that this is such a difficult time for everyone right now and I am sending our best wishes to you all.
Today has been the third day for thousands of school children in the UK that schools are out, and many are saying until September. That’s crazy, 16 weeks of no school?! Being a teacher and parent to a child who thrives and needs routine and structure we have had another school day structure but at home. I even have a bell to mark the start of the day and breaks and lunch times etc. Anyone who knows me won’t be surprised but I get it is slightly extreme. It has been a day of PE (thanks to Joe Wicks, streaming a live PE lesson at 9am UK time) Interestingly he said his first live workout was watched by only 25 people and I think there was over 850,000 users tuning into his live feed this morning. There is hope for me and my six shares after all! We have had handwriting, spellings, maths challenges, singing, reading, crafts and outdoor challenges, the list goes on. Let me know your great ideas for keeping the kids happy and I will share these too in my next post. I know there are so many wonderful people sharing ideas all across the internet. The community spirit and strength of people is really shining through which is really positive to see.
Our boys are now asleep (7:30pm) and it is now time for me to work. I will update you with my further home schooling efforts as well as filling you in on our life story in Part 5.
Poll – After listening to YOU, what will you do first when you get into Disney’s Magic Kingdom?
So here are the options: I will keep the top five from the previous poll, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean and add four others that have been most commented on plus a bonus which I couldn’t leave out!
1) Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – Located in Fantasyland, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster forms part of a major expansion of the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland that was completed in 2014.
The coaster takes guests on a musical ride deep into a diamond mine. It features a first-of-its-kind ride system that allows the vehicles to swing back and forth as they move along the twisting track, accompanied by tunes from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was manufactured by Vekoma (a favorite of Disney, responsible for nearly all of its modern steel roller coaster work) and features both indoor and outdoor sections. The ride sits somewhere between Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain in terms of thrills.
2) Taking a stroll along Main Street and around the Park – soaking up the sights, sounds and smells of the park. Just appreciating every small detail and being thankful of having the opportunity to enjoy the parks again.
3) Dining in your favorite restaurant – with so many wonderful restaurants at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, this could be the thing you are looking forward to the most. How Disney will deal with dining when the gates open we will be interested to find out.
4) It’s a Small World – Located in Fantasyland, a shallow, meandering river guides tour boats through “the happiest cruise to ever set sail,” where hundreds of animatronic dolls representing cultures from around the world serenade visitors with the well-known title song.
5) Dole Whip Queue – I love this suggestion and for many this may be a winner! It definitely made me smile.
So there are your top choices, be sure to share this post on Facebook with your friends and family. I am confident we can get more than 3 shares for this one!
