This week at Walt Disney World, the Magic Kingdom expands alcohol availability during a special event, Epcot brings back a fan favorite entertainment offering, plus a brand new Disney Dining Plan is announced!
Outside Walt Disney World, SeaWorld announces a special limited-time giveaway and Universal brings back a popular admission discount!
1. Mariachi Cobre Presents…The Story of Coco
In yet another instance of temporary entertainment returning to Walt Disney World, it has been announced that Mariachi Cobre Presents… the Story of Coco will return to the Mexico pavilion on March 4, 2020 for the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. This show will run five days a week until the end of the festival on June 1, 2020.
2. Disney announces new Disney Dining Plan Plus option
Disney has announced an addition to the Disney Dining plan lineup: the Disney Dining Plan Plus plan. This new option will allow Guests to redeem their two meals each day in any combination of either Table Service, Quick Service, or Character Dining, or a combination.
In addition, a Disney Dining Plan Plus package includes two snacks per night, one refillable drink mug (which can be used at any Disney Resort hotel quick-service locations), and at each meal, unlimited refills of fountain sodas, single-service teas and brewed coffee, or one specialty non-alcoholic beverage, or for Guests 21 and older with valid ID, one beer, wine or cocktail.
Meals can be redeemed in any order and in any combination. Unused meals or snacks rollover day to day so Guests can use them whenever they want during their stay. No pricing information has been released about this new option, but we should know
3. Diamond Horseshoe to be converted to lounge during Villains After Hours event
During Disney Villains After Hours, the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon will be offering a new lounge experience where Magic Kingdom Guests will be able to enjoy tasty villainous treats and an assortment of specialty beverages, including wine, beer, and cocktails.
4. Cinderella Castle getting gold makeover this summer

Instead of doing a massive reimagining for Cinderella Castle, this latest update will be very subtle, with the icon getting gold trim enhancements on windows and turrets as well as over its classic archway. In addition, the blue turret tops will be getting a fresh coat of paint and the upper 2/3 of the castle will be getting a bit of a pinkish tint as well, as you can see in the concept art above, released earlier this week by Disney.
5. Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Live! to return this summer

It has been confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy โ Awesome Mix Live! will be returning to Epcot this summer. This show, which features Star-Lord and Gamora from the Guardians of the Galaxy films taking guests on a musical journey through the cosmos featuring hits from Star-Lordโs Awesome Mix tapes, will debut just in time for the summer travel season (likely in June) and will run right up until The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is set to return in August.
6. Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away now closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
After nearly four years, the Star Wars A Galaxy Far, Far Away stage show had its last performance ever this week at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. No replacement show is expected to come any time soon to the center stage area of the park, which should help with crowd traffic to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which is opening in just a few days!
7. Universal Orlando Resort brings back free day ticket deal for 2020
Universal Orlando Resort is bringing back a popular ticket offer exclusively for U.S. and Canada residents that allows guests who purchase a 2-Day, 2-Park ticket (as low as $234.99 per adult) will receive two extra days free to enjoy Universal Studios Florida and Universalโs Islands of Adventure. And for only $40 more per adult, guests can upgrade their ticket to include Universalโs Volcano Bay water theme park, giving them four days of access to all three of Universal Orlandoโs theme parks.
